Clients need a caring, highly trained and supportive team to maximize recovery and regain independence. TASS’s dedicated team of highly trained professionals is made up of a Physiatrist (serving as Medical Doctor), physical, occupational, vocational, recreation and speech therapists as well a Dietician, Counselor and Nurse Consultant, most of whom have worked together for over a decade. At the helm of Team TASS is a dedicated, 20-year experienced Director providing day-to-day oversight and hands-on client care to ensure successful execution of services. Team TASS plays a critical role in the treatment offered to clients as they work together achieving self sufficiency and meeting the complex physical, cognitive, social and emotional needs of clients with brain injury.
SUZANNE LENTZOWNER
Suzanne S. Lentz, M.C.D, CCC-SLP, CBIT, CWCP, a Speech-Language Pathologist who received a Masters of Communication Disorders from Louisiana State University Medical Center, has worked in the field of neurological rehabilitation for over 20 years and served various populations including pediatrics and adults in home health, post-acute and long-term care settings. Currently, Ms. Lentz serves as the Director of Community Based Residential Programs at TASS Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center in Ponchatoula, Louisiana where she leads a transdisciplinary team in the successful care and treatment of individuals with brain injuries. Her areas of interest include community reintegration, behavior modification, and cognitive remediation training. She is certified by the American Academy for the Certification of Brain Injury Specialists as a Clinical Examiner. Ms. Lentz has served on the Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Association of Louisiana since 2005. She currently holds the position of Secretary.
HOWARD T. KATZ, M.D.MEDICAL DIRECTOR
Howard T. Katz, M.D., serves as Medical Director of TASS Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center. He is a native of Memphis, Tennessee and resident of Madison, Mississippi. Dr. Katz received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Tufts New England Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Katz is board certified in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Board certified in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Board certified in the Subspecialty of Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, and certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. He enjoys membership with multiple professional associations, some of which include the American Medical Association, Brain Injury Association, American Academy of Home Care Physicians, and the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Katz’s experience with brain injury treatment spans over thirty years, and includes medical director position with several specialized organizations. Dr. Katz practiced for several years in the New Orleans area, including a six-year stint as medical director, brain injury program, at the Rehabilitation Institute of New Orleans at F. Edward Hebert Hospital. Dr. Katz is the Chairman of the Board of the Brain Injury Association of Mississippi and has served in that capacity for over twenty-five years.
